How should we behave in the Park?
For the preservation of the terrestrial and marine ecosystems of the Maritime-Terrestrial National Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia in general, and of Ons Island in particular, it is important to remember that the following is not allowed:
Rules of Conduct on Ons Island
- Lighting fires, bonfires, or similar.
- Depositing or throwing any type of trash or waste (solid or liquid) outside of designated areas.
- Camping outside of the designated and prepared areas.
- Accessing areas marked as “not accessible” to the public.
- Disturbing, injuring, capturing, or killing animals.
- Removing, cutting, or damaging vegetation (remember that there are endemics and species of great importance).
- Carrying out any activity that destroys, deteriorates, or disturbs unique natural elements.
- Destroying or altering elements of archaeological, historical, or geological interest, both terrestrial and marine.
- Practicing diving without prior authorization.
- Practicing sport fishing and underwater fishing.
- Carrying or using weapons, harpoons, spearguns, or other similar tools.
- Mooring and docking vessels, and navigating, except with express authorization.
- Installing banners or advertisements without authorization.
- Using loudspeakers, noise, or sound systems that disturb the tranquility of the Park.
- Disembarking domestic animals (except guide dogs).
- Introducing non-native animal and/or plant species.
- Disembarking motor vehicles (except for wheelchairs).
- Filming or photographing for commercial purposes without prior authorization.
Recommendations
- Use the paths and walkways, and avoid walking off them within the Park.
- Do not discard lit cigarettes (all precautions are necessary to minimize the risk of fires).
- Collect your own waste and use the trash containers.
- Drive vehicles only on authorized paths.
- Respect crops, fences, and enclosures.
- Use designated recreational areas for meals.
- Bicycles are not allowed anywhere on the Island.
